Donations of blood

(a) Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a minor who has attained the age of 17 may consent to the donation of his or her blood and to the penetration of tissue which is necessary to accomplish such donation. The consent shall not be subject to his or her disaffirmance because of minority.

(b) A minor who has attained the age of 15 may, with the written consent of his or her parents or a guardian, and the written authorization of a physician and surgeon, consent to the donation of his or her blood and to the penetration of tissue which is necessary to accomplish such donation. The consent shall not be subject to his or her disaffirmance because of minority.

(c) As used in this section "donation of blood" means giving of blood in which the donor of the blood receives no payment therefor.
