The Governing Board encourages parents/guardians and interested members of the community to visit the schools and view the educational program and services offered in SCSD, thus providing an important link between the schools and the community in order to achieve the desired public education for all students.

The Superintendent or designee shall establish procedures that facilitate visits during regular school days. These procedures are designed to facilitate communication between home-community-school and to enhance parental understanding of children's educational programs. At the same time, it is important to be sensitive to the unique characteristics present in each classroom and how particular students may be affected by the presence of visitors.

To achieve all the objectives named above, visits to a classroom initiated by a student's parent/guardian shall be arranged in advance and in consultation with the student's teachers and/or the principal or his or her designee. Classroom visits or conferences will be scheduled within a reasonable time of the parent's or guardian's request (Education Code 51101(a). If a conference is desired, an appointment shall be set with the teacher during non-instructional time.

All visitors on school grounds are required to sign in at the office of school and follow all other procedures established by that school or the district regarding visits. The Board encourages all individuals to assist in maintaining a safe and secure school environment while on school grounds that they use the district's complaint processes, if they have concerns with any district program or employee.
