Release Of Directory Information

The Governing Board recognizes the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of directory information and therefore authorizes the release of such information only in accordance with law, Board policy, and administrative regulation.

The Superintendent or designee may release student directory information to representatives of the news media or nonprofit organizations in accordance with Board policy and administrative regulation. Directory information does not include a student's social security number or state identification number. Directory information may include a local student identification number, used by the student for purposes of accessing or communicating in electronic systems provided the identifier cannot be used to gain access to education records except when used in conjunction with other passwords or personal identification number. (34 CFR 99.3)

The Superintendent or designee may limit or deny the release of specific categories of directory information to any public or private nonprofit organization based on his/her determination of the best interests of district students. (Education Code 49073)
