In the event that funds available for purposes of providing stipends to mentor teachers are insufficient to provide stipends for the maximum number of certificated classroom teachers authorized to be designated as mentors pursuant to subdivision (a) of Section 44492, the Superintendent of Public Instruction shall decrease the percentage multiplier established in subdivisions (a) and (b) of Section 44492 so that the allocation and authorized number of mentors for each participating school district would be decreased on a pro rata basis.
