Elementary and Middle School

Students shall progress through the grade levels of the school system by demonstrating sufficient growth in learning in required basic skills. The normal pattern of progress is that of promotion to the next higher grade annually. Promotion shall be based upon reasonable, considerate and fair criteria as established in administrative regulation. Retention of students shall be based on the specific regulations for making exception to promotion. Acceleration is possible when high academic achievement is evident. However, a student's social and emotional growth are important factors to be taken into consideration when placing a student in a higher grade.
